As of Tuesday, Oct 13, 73 of the 79 med-peds residency programs have at least one reported interview invite this season. The first came on Oct 2. Here is where the season stands, which programs have sent, and how it compares with last cycle.

Where the med-peds season stands

92% of med-peds programs have sent at least one invite, against 42% at the same point last cycle, 50 points ahead. The biggest day for first invites so far was Tuesday, Oct 6, when 49 programs sent their first. 27% of the programs that have sent have done so on more than one day.

When med-peds programs sent interview invites last cycle

Last cycle’s first reported med-peds invite came on Oct 6. Half of programs had sent their first invites by Oct 17. The single biggest day was Tuesday, Oct 7, when 14 programs sent their first invites. By Nov 1, 75% of programs had sent, and by Dec 1, 92%. Of the programs that had sent by this point last cycle, 97% sent more invites later.

How we did this

A program counts as having sent invites once at least one applicant reported an invite from it this season, combining invite reports applicants shared with interviews applicants track in Rezumab and chose to share, and counting each program once per day. The denominator is every med-peds program in our program data. Everything here is reported by applicants, so every share is a floor, and the last few days fill in as late reports arrive.

Day 0 is the first day of mass invites each season (Sep 23, 2026; Sep 24, 2025), so “the same point last cycle” means the same number of days in. We compare with last cycle only where last year’s reports eventually covered at least 80% of the specialty’s programs.

Signal shares use only invites whose signal status is known, with 95% intervals that account for invites clustering within programs. The share of applications carrying a signal comes from national application statistics for this season; signaled and unsignaled offer rates come from applicant outcome records for last cycle’s Match, which mostly cover US MD and DO graduates who matched.
