  • 25-26Rotators reported a week-per-subspecialty schedule with one week in comprehensive ophthalmology. The coordinator solicits preferences in advance, and effort is made to arrange face time with interview faculty. Rotators reported ~70% shadowing with involvement varying by attending. A case-lecture presentation is delivered in an interactive format to PGY2s with a PGY4 and attending. Scrub opportunities included cataract and some retina cases (unusual for aways). No call expected. Rotators noted that nearly all rotators receive an IV.
  • 23-24Rotators strongly recommended the rotation. The new program director schedules one-on-one meetings with away rotators regardless of subspecialty. Residents were described as the highlight of the rotation, organizing the week and setting up rotators for success. Emphasis on meeting faculty and residents, with no major didactic or testing requirements. OR opportunities, consult follow-along, and shadowing available.

Paraphrased from rotator survey responses. Names and identifying details removed.
